Next-gen Ducati Monster spied testing for the first time

Ducati says the new engine is light despite being water-cooled.

The next-gen Ducati Monster has been spotted testing for the first time.

The new Monster will feature the new V2 890 cc engine, and it will come without Ducati's signature desmodromic valve timing for the very first time. With the conventional valve train with overhead camshafts (DOHC), springs close the four valves per cylinder. Ducati says the new engine is light despite being water-cooled. It weighs just 54.4 kg. Maintenance is also said to be significantly lower without desmodromic timing.

The spy shots reveal that the subframe has been completely redesigned, and the mainframe could get a design change as well. The radiator also seems to be larger than before. One can also see a larger tank and a different design for the alloy wheels.  The test mule seen here seems to be one of the early prototypes.

Other models featuring the new V2 engine include the Ducati Multistrada V2, Ducati Panigale V2, and Ducati Streetfighter V2. While these will be launched later this year, the new Monster is expected to break cover in 2026.
