Few accessories installed from the dealership are:
1- All windows sunfilm including windscreen and rear windscreen.
2- Mobis dual channel (front + back) dashcam.
3- Underbody coating.
4- Mats for the car and boot.

Also changed the tyres immediately after delivery. I had got JK Tyres and had no doubt I would be changing them. I have got Yokohama BluEarth RV02 fitted now. Upsized a bit and went for 225/55 R18 profile.

Still learning the features and about the gadgets. However, the rear captain seats with the recline, comfort headrests, extendable thigh support and ventilation are the BEST seats in the house.

PS - I got the mobis wired to wireless convertor dongle free with the car. In fact it was just placed in the glovebox and when I thanked the sales consultant for it, he was surprised it is there.

I will write a detailed account of my ownership after getting more kilometers under the belt.
Hi,

Lots of common things between us

1. Upgraded from Verna 4S (Diesel)
2. Got the same model Signature 6S DT Petrol Feb -2025
3 Got the same dashcam installed at the dealership level

Any change in video quality of dashcam due to sunfilm?

I have completed 2500 KM, the ownership report is under progress. May I ask the total spent on the tyre upgrade? I was getting only 3k for JK Lux in exchange.

Do let me know once you figure out the way to permanently off the rear traffic collision warning+braking. This is one thing which i have to do manually every time. I cannot reverse the car in traffic if this thing is on, it warns, it breaks, but it wont let me reverse.

It is definitely a head turner specially the DT. It looks different and I don't why but it looks big.

Hey,

Yes quite a few things in common. Congratulations on your new buy.

Video quality is good with sunfilm. I havent checked the videos from night drive yet.

I got 1500 per tyre off, for selling the JK Tyres and the Yokos came at 13800 a piece.

Just today the rear traffic collision braking triggered for me. I agree it was a bit premature as the cross traffic was quite far but technology is more risk averse than me.
I haven't tried to switch it off, let alone switch it off permanently. I will see how it works before deciding.

Happy motoring !!

Looking to apply a good sun film / window tint (75%+ VLT) and maybe getting some fog lights. Any contacts or experiences for the same in the Delhi region?

Mod Note : Please go through Team-BHP's posting etiquette before making a new post.

Thanks.

Re: 2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift Review

Utilised the weekend to take the Alcazar 6str petrol DCT for a 250kms spin. It was day trip, searching for some scenic lakes and dams, mostly in Tamil Nadu. Let’s just say none we found were good enough to be mentioned here.

But I did get the opportunity to explore the car, spend more time with it and understand the Pros/Cons better.

What I love:
1. Super quiet engine, which never lacks power, overtaking is a breeze, be it the 2 lane highways or the 4/6 lane ones.
2. The quick and smooth gearshifts of the DCT.
3. The ground clearance and peace of mind it brings, especially when taking the path less travelled.
4. The overall comfort. The middle row captain seats are best in the business. Coupled with sunshades and the sun-film I have put, the cabin remained cool even during the peak afternoon sun.
5. Chiller AC and we get 4 ventilated seats. No one misses out on the luxury. This is the best SUV for a smaller family like ours, wherein its me, my wife and 3-year-old 95% of the time. And either of us must sit in the middle row as my child doesn’t like being alone in the car seat.
6. ADAS works as expected. Tried the adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. Blind spot monitoring is also a bliss.
7. The higher driving position is wonderful. Coming from a sedan, it does help with added visibility.

What could be better:
1. The middle row AC vents hardly have any potency. While the cabin is cooled, the lack of circulation of cold air in the middle can be annoying. The solution I have found is to turn on the 3rd row blower to 1 or 2 fan speed and point the vents towards the middle row. Works wonders.
2. The fuel efficiency drops quickly if you unleash the engine. My city runs in normal mode are giving me 8kmpl, the highway runs gave 12kmpl.
3. The adaptive cruise control is very aggressive when it tries to gain speed back after slowing down.
4. Powered tailgate should have been offered (Yes I am greedy).

Other points
• The wireless Android auto + wireless charging heats up my phone like crazy. Not sure what can be done. Also, for my phone, the front wireless charger keeps disconnecting. Need to check if it’s a phone issue or car issue.
• The TPMS Tamasha: Since I changed the stock tyres on day 1, the TPMS went bonkers. The store had put 33psi in all tyres, but the TPMS was reading it as 29 in left rear and 30 in others. The TPMS warning kept buzzing for the left rear. The next day I went to a pump and asked the attendant to top up pressure to 33psi. In his gauge, the present reading was 31psi, and he topped all tyres to 33psi. After this, the car’s TPMS showed 31psi for all tyres and the warning kept buzzing for left rear, though it was at 31psi just like remaining three.
Drove a few kilometres thinking it will go away but didn’t. So, in the evening, went to another pump and asked the attendant to top up the pressure to 35psi. After this, the car’s TPMS read all tyres as 34psi and finally the warning stopped. Drove back to the same pump and asked him to reduce to 34psi. Now, the car’s TPMS is showing 33psi for all tyres with no warning. Phew!

Overall, I am extremely pleased with the car. The sense of luxury and finesse it offers is far beyond the competition. Signing off till next time!!

Re: 2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift Review

UPDATE: Battery Health After 12 days break

It has been little over 5 months since I purchased Alcazar Facelift Signature DCT. I never had any Battery Discharge issue even when car was not driven for 4-5 days. However, this time I went on a 12 days break. As a precautionary step, I unplugged dashcam. After 6 days, I thought of having remote start to keep the battery running. I got message that Bluelink is disabled to save battery since car had been idle for last few days.

After I came back today, tried starting the car. The car door unlocked after a slight pause. Driver seat also adjusted as usual and car got started. After keeping it idle for 5 min, took it for a short drive. No issue at all.

NOTE: Neither I got a call for any update as reported by fellow BHPians nor there had been any scheduled/unscheduled visit to service center since my purchase except for first mandatory service. However, if I recall correctly, Bluelink received OTA update in first week of April. Not sure, if that fixed the issue by itself or my car never had Battery Discharge issue (TouchWood).

Thanks,
Rohit

Re: 2024 Hyundai Alcazar Facelift Review

Hello TBHP Family!

It’s been 5 months since I purchased my 2024 Facelift Hyundai Alcazar Prestige Turbo Petrol Manual 7S, and after clocking 3,000 km and creating countless memories (mostly great, with a few hiccups), I wanted to share my ownership experience with you all.
________________________________________
Background

Before this, I owned a Swift Petrol Manual since 2022, and believe me when I say—I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the driving experience. However, the itch for an upgrade hit me in early 2024. After countless hours of analysis, deep dives, and filtering, I finally narrowed down my choices.
Note: I was open to both sedans and SUVs. For me, the ₹15–20L price bracket was the primary consideration—not the vehicle type. Each had its share of pros and cons. All views shared here are based on personal experiences of me and my wife, and are not meant as disrespect toward any of the cars mentioned below.
________________________________________
Contenders

1. Honda City ZX Petrol MT
This car has always had a soft spot in my heart, and a couple of showroom visits and test drives only strengthened my liking. The engine was butter-smooth, and driving it put a smile on my face. The i-VTEC was the only NA engine I would’ve happily picked in 2024 over any turbo.
Why it was dropped: Compared to others in the segment, it lacked the modern flair—outdated infotainment, poor reverse camera, no Type-C USB ports, etc. Sadly, Honda seems to have lost its edge in the C-segment sedan space, especially against the Germans. With a heavy heart, we had to let this one go.

2. Hyundai Verna SX(O) Turbo Petrol MT
This was packed with new-age features (maybe even some unnecessary ones). The turbo engine paired with a manual made it a rocket on Indian roads. Interiors were upmarket, as expected from Hyundai.
Why it was dropped: While we had almost finalized it, the all-black interiors and aggressive ambient lighting made it feel suited for someone in their early 20s. Also, the low and slung seating wasn’t comfortable for my wife, especially in ethnic attire. She preferred a seat with height and a straight back for better comfort.

3. Kia Seltos HTX 1.5 Petrol MT
A no-nonsense option. It ticked most modern car feature boxes—great interiors, upright seating, a large panoramic sunroof (a major plus for my wife), and decent road presence. The NA engine was good for city runs but lacked the punch of a turbo.
Why it was dropped: The turbo variants came only with iMT or DCT, and I wanted a proper manual. Despite being a well-balanced package, it somehow didn’t click with me.

4. Mahindra Scorpio-N Z8 Select Petrol MT 7S
A personal childhood favourite that ticked almost all boxes. But my wife vetoed it, stating she didn’t want a Scorpio as her personal car. Also, it had a small sunroof and lacked useful features like TPMS, auto-folding ORVMs, etc. The side-opening tailgate, rear visibility, and especially the poor mileage of the petrol variant sealed its fate.

5. Mahindra XUV700 AX5 Petrol MT 5S
A very strong contender—looked great, drove well, and had most desired features. However, the lack of 6 airbags (a surprising omission), TPMS, and a price overshoot of ₹1.5–2L above budget made us drop it. Fuel efficiency concerns for a 2.0L turbo petrol engine were also a red flag.

6. Hyundai Creta N-Line N8 Manual
This one had our hearts just before the Alcazar facelift was launched. Super fun to drive and stood out from the sea of regular Cretas. However, the N-Line felt more like an aesthetic upgrade—with red accents and the same turbo engine as the regular Creta. When parked next to the Alcazar, the latter looked more premium and upmarket. A parallel test drive of both helped us finalize our decision.

7. Final Notable Mention – Mahindra Thar ROXX MX5 Petrol MT
I was sold the moment it launched—so much so that I almost booked it without answering the questions in my head. But ingress/egress was a challenge for my wife, and the lack of a panoramic sunroof was a drawback. We were also unsure about the reliability of Mahindra’s electronics and infotainment, especially in a brand-new variant.
________________________________________

Why the Alcazar Facelift 2024?
It turned out to be the perfect fit—a final puzzle piece that completed our search. It had everything we needed (and more), and the on-road price for the Prestige Turbo Petrol 7S variant was ideal.

My Ownership Review After 3,000 km

1. Exterior

• Premium big-car looks
• Facelift is clearly distinguished from the Creta, with its own identity
• Stylish C-pillar glass and well-designed rear
• Ground clearance is ample—better than sedans, though not as high as Scorpio-N or Thar
• New bridge-type roof rails and redesigned bonnet add muscular character
• Excellent underbody protection
• Full black wheel-arch cladding feels more premium than basic plastic (though more prone to scratches)
• Larger than 5-seaters like Creta/Seltos, yet more compact than Scorpio-N/XUV700

2. Interior

• Extremely premium feel with the brown–haze navy dual-tone scheme
• Seamlessly connected infotainment and instrument cluster—feels like a single, wide screen
• Very comfortable and spacious seats
• Easy ingress and egress
• Tray tables at the back are nice-to-haves, though not particularly useful in daily use
• Multiple Type-C ports—super handy for family trips
• Rear AC blower control is a thoughtful addition
• It’s a 5+2 seater, but the third row is usable for average-height adults on short city drives
• Foldable second and third rows offer flexible luggage space
• Massive panoramic sunroof—enhances the cabin experience, especially during rains or night drives

3. Driving Experience

• 1.5L turbo-petrol engine with ~160 HP and 253 Nm torque is a joy to drive
• Silent engine start-up with best-in-class NVH levels
• Leather-wrapped steering—light at low speeds, gets firm as speed increases
• Despite its size, it doesn’t feel bulky to drive
• Manual gearbox is silky smooth—gears slot in effortlessly
• Third-gear pull is particularly impressive—it delivers power on demand
• Mileage:
o City (Bangalore traffic, AC on): 7–8 km/l
o Highway (100–115 km/h): 12–13 km/l
o Best recorded (Mysore to Bandipur, steady 65–80 km/h): ~15 km/l
(Readings based on the MID; not manually calculated)
• Mileage wasn’t a big concern for me, since I drive less than 300 km/month
• Slight body roll around corners—not a dealbreaker
• Suspension strikes a perfect balance—glides over potholes and unscientific speed bumps
• Braking is confidence-inspiring
• High seating position gives great road visibility
Overall: The driving experience is fun, comfortable, and hassle-free—truly a delight.

Negatives

1. 12V Battery Drain Warning Issue
A major letdown and a frustrating experience for all facelift owners. It took Hyundai about 4 months (resolved in April 2025 via software update), and those months were exhausting and disheartening after spending ~₹20L.
2. Middle Row AC
While adequate, it can feel underwhelming on very hot days with three passengers in the rear.
3. No Wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay
A surprising miss in this price segment—it should’ve been there.
4. No Powered Tailgate
Would have been a real convenience feature.
________________________________________
Final Verdict

Despite a few minor issues, my wife and I are extremely happy with our choice. The 2024 Alcazar Facelift has exceeded expectations and delivered on all fronts. We're looking forward to many more miles and memories with this beauty!
Sharing a few pictures of our Alcazar for reference.

Thanks for sharing your impressions. You can adjust the SCC setting to be less aggressive (slower) from 'Settings > Vehicle > Driver assistance > Driving Convenience > SCC (Smart Cruise Control)' from the settings menu in the infotainment system to change Distance, Acceleration, Reaction Speed manually.

Congratulations on your purchase. I have exactly the same variant but in White colour. I echo all the points you mentioned w.r.t. car and it also ticked all my requirements.
A query though. Are you also facing jerks while in 2nd gear if your speed or rpm goes low around 10kmph and 1000 rpm? I am trying to adjust to this new engine and the tuning but finding it tough. Slotting the car in 1st gear as soon as I near any of the above values.

First and foremost, thank you! And you're absolutely correct. The car judders/jerks sometimes while crawling at single digit speeds at second gear. Even I downshift to first at such speeds. (This wasn't necessary for my Swift earlier).

Do you mind posting some pictures of the interior of the cars. Especially the Leatherette Seat Covers that you have installed? Does it fit well, also considering these are accessaories, does it have any impact on the Airbag opening for the seats?

Thank you for sharing the review. Have read your along with post by LeeChristmas95 on the vehicle.

Am currently owning 2020 Creta 1.4 Turbo DCT AMT and plan to replace it later this year as it will be completing 5 yrs. Satisfied ownership experience overall and looking at continuing with Hyundai, but had a couple of experiences, along with perusal of reviews/notes on DCT in Team BHP, i am reconsidering going for DCT option. Unfortunately Hyundai i dont think offers non-DCT in AMT for Creta & above models.

Couple of years back on a trip to Alibaug from Mumbai, i encountered issue of Actuator breakage due to which only odd gears were getting engaged. Had to get the vehicle towed to Mumbai and since it was under extended warranty, the repair+replacement was done without any cost. It dented my confidence in the vehicle a bit and made me take addln extended warranty (previous was expiring at end of 4 years) to protect for any future incidents.

Recently on a trip to Aurangabad, encountered Heated transmission warning on Kasara Ghat due to which i had to stop the vehicle for sometime before resuming.

While i have no issues on power, gear-shifts, ownership experience with Hyundai, the abrupt issues with gears, transmission has created apprehension on going for DCT vehicles. If the vehicle cant navigate a relatively mild ghat like Kasara (albeit with choka block vehicles) without transmission heating up not sure how it will perform on longer drives or more difficult terrain.

My usage is city driving mostly with 2-3 outstation trips in a year.

Would love to hear your views or other BHPians on this issue.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Nikhil,
I have similar variant as LeeChristmas95 and also got the seat covers installed from Hyundai Dealership on the day of delivery. As these are Hyundai authorised genuine accessory, they have dedicated opening on the right side for driver and left hand side for passenger. The covers were a perfect fit without any visible creases or slack in fitting. Only caveat is that since these are leatherette covers and in Delhi summers, they radiate more heat. Attaching some photos for your reference. Please ignore the quality of pic as they were taken in dark with flash.
Apologies as I could reply earlier you ony ownership thread as I was unwell.

Do your own research as well. There is nothing called as OEM authorized/approved accessories. Anything beyond factory fitting, OEM can deny any responsibility. Dealership sell lots of accessories e.g bull bars which are no way approved or even legal. They sell whatever is popular and extremely profitable with no price capping (their accessories prices are always higher then market because they are OEM authorized).

I see that my friend also already shared multiple images of the leatherette seat cover which we got installed. Mine is of the exact same make and type. As far as the concern for airbags go, dealership was totally confident and reassuring of the fact that these will in no way impact the working of airbags which was acceptable and reassuring to me. However, it is always prudent to do our own research on this as well and decide on if you would like to go ahead with it or not.
